Nation Hahn is a senior advisor and strategist for media companies, philanthropies, and startups focused on building community.
Hello!
I wear different hats as a consultant, drawing from my experience in everything from change management and design thinking to strategic communications, public policy, and philanthropy.
At present, I work with philanthropies, startups, and media organizations. The common theme? They are working to build more connected, informed, and resilient communities.
Since 2019, I've also had the privilege of coaching newsrooms through change management. I've worked with the American Press Institute, UNC-Chapel Hill’s Journalism School, and the Poynter Institute helping newsrooms across the country think differently about growing their audience, deepening engagement, creating meaningful experiences, and fostering innovation.
I also serve as a Managing Director at a family foundation in North Carolina.
Before all of this, I was part of something pretty special – I was a co-founder of EducationNC (EdNC) when we launched in 2015. As Chief of Growth, I worked alongside our CEO to tackle a big challenge: how do we get North Carolinians more engaged with education issues through news, research, and information?
We developed a unique approach that combined our theory of change with leadership development and what we called "go and see" opportunities for philanthropists and policymakers. It worked remarkably well. We built relationships with local leaders in every single county in North Carolina (all 100 of them!) and raised over $17 million to support EdNC's mission.
Thank you for your interest.
